Welcome to the Col. James D. Brady Camp #63 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War

The Col. James D. Brady Camp is the Southeastern Virginia chapter of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW). Our membership covers the area from Richmond to Virginia Beach and includes the Historic Triangle (Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown) located on the Virginia Peninsula. This area covers some of the most important battles of the Civil War to include the Battle of Hampton Roads, Cold Harbor, the Siege of Petersburg, and the fall of the Confederate capital in Richmond. Click About Us to learn more.

The SUVCW is a volunteer, non-profit, charitable, fraternal, patriotic and educational organization similar to the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), which was the largest Union Civil War veterans' organization. The SUVCW is officially recognized as the GAR's legal successor, receiving its Congressional Charter in 1954 (Public Law 605). Read more about the history of the GAR and SUVCW here.
